我在某論壇徵求意見，如何自組一台桌上型伺服器，雖然沒有人回應，但我最後還是買下去了。以下是我的需求後最後挑選的零件。
First time choosing parts by myself. I have a limited budget but need a computer with fast CPU, memory and I/O. Please help.
I read some CPU tests that Intel Core i7 2.66GHz performs in average 1.2x better than Phenom II X4 940 3.0GHz, and the i7 CPU doesn't cost much more than Phenom II X4 940. However, to build the whole i7 system will cost at least $100 more and exceed my budget, so I might have to go with Phenom II X4. Any suggestions to get a faster computer within my budget? Thanks.

BUDGET RANGE: US$500-700
SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: testing and development on linux
PARTS NOT REQUIRED: keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, OS
PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: websites that collect no tax from TX, ex. newegg.com, amazon.com
PARTS PREFERENCES: No
OVERCLOCKING: Maybe if stable enough
SLI OR CROSSFIRE: No
MONITOR RESOLUTION: N/A
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Need to test many single-thread programs with no visual requirement. Some programs would require >4G memory. Sometimes programs run for 1 week and write big files on hard drives, so I hope to get fast disk access and plan to build a raid 0 set. The hardware should support X Windows.

I read that 1.55V is the highest suggested voltage for O/Cing on this CPU. I might give it a try.

Not sure if I should go with a DDR3 board instead. => (Update) I am wrong. Phenom II X4 940 doesn't support DDR3. The bad thing is without adjusting in BIOS, AM2+ socket CPU only allows one dim of DDR2 1066 or higher frequency memory in one channel.
